- Acupuncture precautions(Source of information)
1. Before treatment:
> When seeing a doctor, you should wear loose clothes and avoid tight clothes such as jeans, so as not to inconvenience the acupuncture operation and affect the efficacy. Women please do not wear pantyhose, it is better to wear a two-piece suit for convenience.
> Acupuncture is not suitable when you are hungry, full, thirsty, frightened, angry, overly nervous, in a hurry, or after strenuous exercise. Avoid acupuncture immediately after an empty stomach or excessive fatigue or severe insomnia, so as to avoid fainting due to weakness and qi reversal.
> Before treatment, please sit quietly and rest for five minutes. It relaxes the body, stabilizes emotions, and naturally promotes blood circulation, resulting in better therapeutic effects.
2. During treatment:
> During acupuncture, whether sitting, supine or prone, you should maintain the most comfortable posture. Keep your body and mind relaxed, natural and calm. Sit upright and don't cross your legs. During the treatment, the body should be relaxed and do not move or change posture at will to avoid pain and danger.
> If you feel any discomfort during treatment, such as dizziness, nausea, cold sweats, palpitations, dry mouth, blurred vision, shortness of breath, etc., these are signs of needle sickness. Please tell the medical staff immediately.
> If you experience a burning sensation during moxibustion or infrared treatment, or if you feel a decrease or increase in the current during electroacupuncture treatment, please tell your healthcare provider at any time.
> During acupuncture, you may feel soreness, numbness, swelling, heaviness, electric sensation, and tingling sensation. This is called "needle sensation" and is a normal phenomenon. There is no need to worry. If you feel any discomfort, or if muscle fibers become tight or painful due to movement of the patient's body, please inform the medical staff for treatment.
> Stroke patients who are unable to move, the elderly, the disabled, or seriously ill should be accompanied by relatives or friends to take care of them at all times to ensure their safety.
3. After treatment:
> After the needle is removed, do not rub the needle hole to avoid bruising, bleeding or infection. After acupuncture, if there is subcutaneous bleeding or bruises, do not be nervous, as they will be absorbed or disappear on their own. You can also apply a little hot compress to speed up the absorption or disappearance. If you still feel numbness or bruising for one or two days, don't worry, it will be absorbed and disappear on its own after a few days.
> If there is still a feeling of soreness, numbness, swelling or distension at the site after acupuncture, it may last for several hours or even one to two days. This is normal and there is no need to panic.
> Acupuncture is a safe physical therapy, so you can bathe, work, labor and exercise as usual after completing the treatment.
> Each acupuncture session lasts approximately 20 to 30 minutes. For young and strong patients and patients with acute injuries, the therapeutic effect progresses faster; for the elderly and patients with chronic diseases, long-term treatment is usually required, and at least 2-3 times a week is more appropriate. Please cooperate with the treatment to consolidate the therapeutic effect.
> In addition to its analgesic effect, acupuncture can also treat a variety of diseases. It is usually used in conjunction with oral medication to enhance the efficacy and shorten the course of treatment.
> Although acupuncture is a very safe treatment method, if the patient can fully communicate with the doctor before treatment and pay attention to the necessary preparations for acupuncture, it will definitely improve the safety of acupuncture and reduce many unnecessary troubles.
